i rly liked being able to see snapshots of aliska and sasha growing up together; a part of me jealously wishes i could've had, and been able to cling to, an adult for safety like that too. the ending was beautiful, honest. i really loved this story <3
Ehehehee, cigarette smoke is a really nostalgic scent for me too. I'm happy the approach of giving just a few glimpses over time came across well. I was absolutely staggered. The intensity and artistry on display was fantastic, and I loved how much all the disturbing/sexual elements existed not just for their own sake but to build on the themes of family, the capacity to do harm, and what we owe to people in our care. This is going to stay with me for a good long while, I think.
